Application Guidelines

Foliar: Half fill the spray tank with water and start the agitator then gradually added the recommend amount of Seaweed Saver and the remaining water. There should be enough water to give a good coverage over the whole plant. Apply as a fine mist until foliage is wet. Do not foliar spray when the crop is under moisture or heat stress. For optimum results apply in cool part of the day. Applications in early morning are best but late afternoon is appropriate also. Do not stray just before or after rainfall or overhead irrigation.

Fertigation / Soil Application: When applying via irrigation (fertigation) mix 1 part Seaweed Saver to 5 parts water before adding to the supply tank. Continuous agitation of the supply tank is recommended. Seaweed Saver can be applied through drip, micro-jet, sprinkle, solid set, travelling irrigator, overhead, furrow, flood and other types of irrigation at the recommended rates.  For micro-sprinkler, solid set or drip irrigation apply after the system is fully pressurised.  Inject for at least one hour following with clean water for at least two hours to clear system of all product.  Avoid heavy irrigation following application as that may leach material beyond the root system of the crop.

Home Garden Application: Half fill the sprayer / watering can with water then gradually the required amount of Seaweed Saver and the remaining water then agitate. If using a sprayer use enough water for good coverage over the whole plant until foliage is just wet.  Do not foliar spray when the crop is under moisture or heat stress. For optimum results apply in cool part of the day. Applications in early morning are best but late afternoon is appropriate also. Do not stray just before or after rainfall or overhead irrigation. If using a watering can avoid heavy irrigation following application as that may leach material beyond the root system of the plants.

General Application Rates

Vegetable and Field Crops: Apply 1-2 kilograms per hectare via foliar or soil application (fertigation). Start applying at planting with repeat treatments every 7-30 days. Apply 3-5 days prior to an anticipated plant stress event.

Perennial Crops (Trees, Vines, Bushes, etc.): Apply 1-2 kilograms per hectare via foliar or soil application (fertigation). Start applying at regrowth in the spring. Repeat treatments every 7-30 days. At transplanting, a root dip can be used (see below). Post harvest applications can be made every 1-4 weeks from harvest to dormancy. Apply 3-5 days prior to an anticipated plant stress event.

Seed Treatment: 500 grams per tonne of seed. Apply with an appropriate amount of water for seed size so seed is still free flowing.

Transplant Root Dip: To encourage root growth of new transplants, treat roots with a solution of Seaweed Saver at the rate of 25 to 50 grams per 100 litres of water prior to transplanting.

Home Garden: 1/3 of a heaped teaspoon (1 gram) per 9 litre watering over 10 square meters. Apply until foliage is wet or soil is soaked. Repeat each week. For lawns 100 grams will treat 1000 square meters.

Seedlings/Saplings: 0.2 grams per litre. Trial on a small area first. Apply until foliage is wet or soil is soaked. Repeat each week.

ADDITIONAL APPLICATIONS SHOULD BE MADE IMMEDIATELY PRIOR OR FOLLOWING STRESS PERIODS SUCH AS CHILL OR DROUGHT.

Crop Specific Application Rates

Product may be applied either as foliar sprays or via fertigation/soil unless specified.  Rates higher than recommended below can be used.  Do not exceed 4 kg per hectare in a single application for trees and vines. Do not exceed 2 kg per hectare in a single application for other crops.

Compatibility

Seaweed Saver is compatible with most insecticides, fungicides and fertilisers. Some pH adjustments may be required with acidic mixtures.  Add surfactants after the product has been completely dissolved in the tank solution.  When mixing with calcium products thoroughly mix Seaweed Saver with the water in the tank prior to adding the calcium product.  If interaction of chemicals is unknown please do a small scale “jar” compatibility test. In “jar” test try dissolving Seaweed Saver first before adding other ingredients.
